Magic City Hustle

Former Miami Canes get an unexpected chance to turn pro; but it’s not football, it's Jai-Alai! Set against Miami's gig economy, the film (directed by Billy Corben - "Cocaine Cowboys" & "The U"), chronicles the lives of the once-star-athletes as they prepare for the ultimate hustle: a new shot at glory & hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize $$$. And though they are more "Bad News Bears" than "The Natural," there's a poignancy to their efforts.
Jai-Alai is a popular sport in Latin America that is nearly extinct in the U.S. It resembles racquet ball, only the players wear long curved baskets (called cestas) on their hands to hurl a goatskin ball against a wall at speeds of up to 170 mph.
